Introducing RuneSmith!

People often ask me how a custom runic ring begins.
The answer is usually with a conversation.
Someone has an idea, a name, a phrase, a memorial inscription or perhaps only a vague notion of what they would like to create. The challenge is turning that idea into something visual. Something that works not only as an inscription, but as a ring.
On many occasions I have sat with customers discussing ideas, moving symbols around, experimenting with borders and motifs, and trying to help them imagine what the finished piece might look like. Often the hardest part is not making the ring. It is helping someone visualise something that does not yet exist.
Eventually I decided there had to be a better way.
That idea became RuneSmith.
Built for a Real Workshop Problem
RuneSmith was created for a very simple reason.
I wanted a way to design rings alongside customers and allow them to see their ideas take shape before anything was engraved.
Many people know they want a runic ring, but they are not always sure exactly what they want it to say, how it should be arranged, or how the finished piece will look when wrapped around a ring.
RuneSmith allows those ideas to be explored in real time.
Sometimes I use it with customers during a consultation. Sometimes people use it entirely on their own. In both cases the goal is the same: turning an idea into something visible.
A One-Man Project
RuneSmith is not the product of a software company.
There is no design department, development team or corporate backing behind it.
It is a one-man project built using the same tools available to anyone else.
Every rune, motif and separator within RuneSmith was created specifically for the project. I did not simply download a rune font and build an app around it. Each element was drawn and refined individually so that the designs reflected the same attention to detail that goes into the rings themselves.
The aim was never to create a generic rune generator. I wanted a tool that I could genuinely use in my own workshop.
Bringing Ideas to Life
One feature that was particularly important to me was the ability to visualise a design on an actual ring.
A line of symbols on a screen is one thing.
Seeing those symbols wrapped around a ring is something entirely different.
The RuneRender system allows designs to be viewed on a three-dimensional ring model, helping transform an abstract idea into something tangible.
That matters because so much of the design process is visual. A customer may know exactly what they want once they see it, even if they struggled to describe it beforehand.

Free to Use
RuneSmith is available for anyone to use.
There are no subscriptions, hidden costs or premium features.
Its purpose is simple: to allow people to explore ideas, experiment with inscriptions and create designs that interest them.
If someone eventually decides they would like a ring made, there is a mechanism for requesting a quotation. That exists because RuneSmith was originally built as a workshop tool for my own use and the ability to move from design to manufacture was always part of the process.
There is no obligation attached to it.
You are equally welcome to use RuneSmith simply to experiment, learn and explore possibilities.
Still Evolving
RuneSmith remains a work in progress.
New phrases, motifs and features continue to be added as the project develops.
Like the rings themselves, it has grown one step at a time through experimentation, problem-solving and a fair amount of trial and error.
Nothing more complicated than that.
